The Renwood Grandpare is probably one of the most amazing $30 bottles of wine we’ve found.

And guess what?

It’s a Zinfandel… no, this isn’t our April fools day show and this is not a drill.

Suzanne talks with Danny Mantle of Renwood Winery and they taste the 2003 Grandmere and Grandpere Zinfandels made from a blend of 100+ year-old Zinfandel vines.

VINEYARDS
Grandpère® Zinfandel and Grandmère® Zinfandel come from a vineyard situated behind Renwood Winery in Plymouth, California. This 20 acres vineyard is home to the oldest clone of Zinfandel in America. Believed to be 130 years old. This vineyard is planted on its own rootstock and is classically head pruned. Tight berry clusters, deep concentrated flavors, this vineyard produces award winning Zinfandels.

In this episode Suzanne interviews Boy Brainerd, better known as “Pimp Daddy” from Twisted Oak Winery at The LA Wine Fest.

You’ve gotta love any winery who picks a rubber chicken to be it’s mascot… or maybe the chicken picked them. Boy “Pimp Daddy” talks about their new Spanish varietals, their winemaker, “Fermento The Magnificent,” and The Cave Loot Extravaganza (a major Pirate throwdown) coming up at Twisted Oak August 18th.

One thing’s for sure… these pirates know how to party.

You can check out their blog - El Bloggo Torcido (added to our friends list our blog@ SublimeWine.net) - to get the latest ramblings from the gang @ Twisted Oak.

In this episode of Sublime Wine Radio Suzanne interviews wine guru, “Dan The Man,” of Young’s Markets. They discuss wine and taste some great Rose.

Rose wine? Admit it, you don’t even consider rose “real” wine, do you? We didn’t either, but believe it or not there are some awesome wines out there that are proud to call themselves rose wine. Dan explains…

  • how to pick a great “dry” rose
  • the importance of alcohol content
  • some great food pairing advice for the BBQ wine season.
